1. A Word from the President
One of our objectives as your executive is to "reach-out" to make your
membership as valuable as possible. I'm pleased to announce two such initiatives
which support our commitment to our UK and Swiss origins.
On May 6th we're teaming-up with the venerable British Swiss Chamber of
Commerce ("BSCC") for our next Speakers' Series, details attached. The BSCC is
a very active professional networking organisation in Switzerland with over 4'000
members and, having attended many of their events in Geneva, I think they are a
great fit with SMAAS.
The second initiative is with Swiss Association of MBAs or SAMBA
(www.swissamba.ch) as some have asked why we are not a member. This is
because the statutes of SAMBA require associate members to have GMAT
average scores of at least 690. Since Strathclyde doesn't require GMAT results,
we've been previously denied.
However, as we all know, there are exceptions to every rule. Following my recent
meeting with Mr. B. Marbach, President of SAMBA, I'm pleased to announce that
we've been granted "Associate" status which enables SMAAS to participate in
SAMBA events, and vice-versa. After a few such exchanges, and provided you as
SMAAS agree, SAMBA will vote on our admittance. An example of a recent
voted-in member is Boccini, and Rotterdam is presently in "Associate" status.
Which I believe is Good company to be in.
I'm very confident that given our momentum and commitment we will strengthen
our ties with BSCC, soon be a member of SAMBA and why not some of the other
many professional networking associations in Switzerland. Your thoughts and
recommendations on this matter are most welcome.
The SMAAS ex-co look forward to your participation in our events this year and
we thank you for your support.
